Spray Wii on the wall!

In 2008 i started my final year of my degree , as part of one of  my lectures my tutor arrived in one day with a bunch of these sensory boards from a crowd called Arduino.  There’s tons of these sensory gadgets out there and are more common in our lives than you think.

iPhone for example use sensors to detect if the phone is up right or on its side even the Nintendo Wii use them to enhance the interactive experience of games such as the pressure pad, blue tooth, motion tracking and much more

all these new experiences add to the game play in a way that has never really been seen before.

I watch a program each week on the BeeBeeC called Click its well worth it if ye happen across it. Its full of all the latest in technology …..which you may or may not find interesting. It has a bit for everyone, web tips new gadgets and different ways of staying safe on line. But what i found really interesting was a bit they done on the Interactive Graffiti wall!!

Brilliant!! So simple an idea im surprised they never bothered doing it before. To be honest i thought the prototype on Click was a little amateurish and got me thinking of trying it out my self. Its simple enough i thought i could make it as my MA in September make it a bit more fin tuned.

but then i saw this…

Nintendo showing again they are still in the game!! This is Wii Spray!! enjoy.

Site of the day typeneu.com This is a cool site i fell on one day with a hangover.  It’s largely based around graphic design, bit of motion graphics, type and all that good stuff. The page seems to add more and more as you scroll down, cool idea but can get annoying as it seems to never end. If it gets too much. You’ll find it has a nice little category section and search engine at the top to help speed things up.  I wasted at least an hour on this the other day!! Definitely one for the favorites box.

Well i had a Site of the day so heres my Advise of the day.

Your trying to learn Photoshop but the course your doing doesn’t cut the mustard. Well check out these bad boys!! You’ll find heaps of them out there from glowing wavy lines to 3D type and PSD design tips!!

If your like me and come form a web design background you cant help but be drawn to graphic design. So to be truly good at web design you need an understanding of graphic design, they go hand in hand.

This is DIY heads up on Graphic Design, with a commonsense approach to how to conduct your self and what path you could follow. All very good if you can’t be arsed doing a course! Well worth a read.

candy collective

Candy Collective run a guest lecture with famous artist every once and awhile and you just pop along and they give ye a little biography speach about where they come from and how they made it etc.

Anyway ill cut to the chase an Artist/Illustrator by the name of James Jarvis was there, now when i went along to this lecture i hadn’t a fucking clue who this punter was! It only dawned on me when he was showing a slide show of his work that i began to realize who he was!!

James Jarvis the creator of AMOS toys, and when i was a little young fella flying about on a skate board i used to collect his work in skate mags and hang them up on my wall. Then as i started to get back into Art again his toys/collectibles would catch my eye in magazines and the likes. But i never could match them up until that night.

After the lecture i asked him for an autograph and a chat and i told him how ive been following his work but not really knowing it and it was all a laugh then he began to scribble on this poster for me. So now i have my own Original Jarvis!! Cheers James.

Sticking with the Illustration theme another one i just found is a bloke called Andrew Bell don’t know much about him other than he makes cool little creatures and collectibles like James Jarvis  and Klan 123.

Theres heaps of these designer toys about these days where you can collect and customize your own. DUNNY’s are probably the most famous as far as i can tell..

Onto a new artist now he has gotta be my favorite. A punter by the name of Matthieu Bessudo or Mc Bess he’s only 23 and look at what hes dishing out..

be sure to check out his website very talented artist.

bit of a mixed bag here just for now haven’t had a chance to organize everything Craig Ward typography you’ve had you head in the sand if you don’t know this guy his work is always showing up in the top ten list of Typography greats.

Ian Francis i don’t wanna harp on like one of those arty types who analysis works and try to find a meaning to a painting like its a poem!! but this guys use of contrast is class, the francis bacon style mess followed by a little bit of detail in his figures brings of this half finished look to his work. I bet one day he started one painting felt it was crap, tossed it out then thought hang on im onto something here and start making more!! hah

Either way Ian its a cool concept and something id like to try my self sometime.

Ian Francis check out his website and interview on Fecal Face too

his work reminds me of Julian House another savage artist, and in your face more than ye think, you can find his work on album covers and music videos for bands such as Oasis, Prodigy and Primal Scream.

Actually now that i think about it he was at my first Candy Collective gig in the sugar club back in 2006 so there ye are full circle!
